Phase 1 involved the design of space to relocate the Occupational Therapy program to McAuley and the creation of shared classroom and distance learning spaces. Construction was completed in two months in time for the Spring 2018 semester.

Phase 2 created a new state-of-the-art Nursing Simulation Laboratory. architecture+ worked with the Nursing Department faculty, staff, and students to design this $1 million, 6,500 square foot space. The laboratory provides opportunities for nursing students to develop skills and critical thinking. The laboratory replicates several nursing settings to provide students with experience in a variety of healthcare environments. It houses two skills labs, a simulation suite, a nurse’s station, a medication room, and two debriefing classrooms. Phase 2 was completed on a fast-track schedule with construction taking place over a three month period during the summer of 2018 while the building was fully occupied.

The McAuley Building renovations created a vibrant Health Sciences Building that allows shared learning in a simulated hospital setting. The location of the building has also facilitated new opportunities to share resources with St. Peter’s Health Partners that benefit both institutions and their students.
"The creation of state-of-the-art facilities to prepare nurses and occupational therapists is fundamental to the mission of Maria College. The team from architecture+ was absolutely essential to our capacity to design and create spaces that meet the needs of students and faculty. They are top notch professionals, but also approachable, understanding and enjoyable colleagues. You will be pleased you selected them."
