To support the current competitive higher education environment, SUNY New Paltz sought to create a more engaging and welcoming campus for current and potential students. architecture+ began designing the renovation of the Student Union’s 3rd floor student spaces and 2nd floor Multipurpose Room while completing the renovations to student activity spaces on the 4th floor. Collaborating with the Center for Student Engagement and State University Construction Fund, our team developed an efficient layout and logistics plan to accomplish the renovations.

The reconfiguration of the U-shaped floor plan with double-loaded office corridors will create a series of suites that include: multi-cultural center, student clubs, e-sports, faith group offices, intervention programs, food pantry, lounge space, and accessible restrooms.

The multipurpose/ballroom space on the 2nd floor has been upgraded with enhanced finishes, building systems, and technology, along with improved acoustics to better support student life, campus activities, and community events.
