The Center houses a new science and academic program. The 25,000 square foot, $3.4 million building maximizes sunlight and scenic views. It facilitates social and intellectual interaction and integrates lab space with general classrooms. It is intended to blur the line between science and other disciplines by incorporating areas for informal learning and facilitating social interaction.

There are labs for biology, chemistry, ecology, and physics that double as seminar rooms. The Center also features a greenhouse, research labs, and offices. A 60-seat auditorium boasts multimedia and computer network connections at each seat.

The building was situated to compliment the natural environment, optimize views of the Berkshire Mountains, and minimize disturbance to the wetlands. The use of exposed natural materials further enhances the buildings connection to nature.
