We have extensive experience designing childcare facilities in community and institutional settings. Our work on the Viking Child Care Center at Hudson Valley Community College was given the Outstanding Architecture award from the Education Design Showcase, School Planning & Management.
Two of the childcare facilities we have designed (Oneonta Human Ecology Building-Head Start and the Early Childhood Education Department/Higbee Hall at Hudson Valley Community College) incorporate state-of-the-art training for future teachers.
Some of the other particular issues we have addressed include:
- handicap accessibility
- collocation with community space
- security concerns at an urban psychiatric hospital
- flexible room design to meet regulations for multiple age groups
- siting in a residential area
