architecture+ designed sixteen, twelve-bed houses for The Eddy Village Green, a skilled nursing facility. The houses are based on the Green House Model, which was developed a few years ago with funding by the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation. This model significantly improves the level of care that can be provided within an economically feasible model.
Each of the sixteen houses contains twelve bedrooms with private baths, seating for twelve in the dining room, a large living area with fireplace, a small library, a hair salon, a hot tub, and front and back porches. In keeping with the Green House model, the houses are designed to encourage the residents to participate in daily life by incorporating accessible work surfaces.
architecture+ was further commissioned by The Eddy to provide comprehensive interior design services for all of the sixteen houses. Four interior themes were established to guide the finishes selections, furniture, and accessories. The residents of the green houses have the opportunity to choose a home with either a Shaker, Art Deco, Traditional, or Adirondack theme.
