Kings County Psychiatric Center
We teamed with RBS&D to design this new psychiatric facility at the Kings County Hospital Center. Although free-standing, a bridge connects it to the administration building to for easy access by staff. The facility will serve patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
The building plans contain 314,000 square feet on eight stories. A total of 227 beds are planned plus 6 extended-stay observation beds. The total construction cost is estimated at $105 million.
We designed a courtyard and located the inpatient and outpatient areas so that they would receive as much natural light as possible. Staff spaces are centrally located in the facility. Program areas have multiple access points so that space and be easily reconfigured as needs change.
