This facility will treat long-term stay patients and includes adult, adolescent and forensic beds. We worked with the client (The Division of Capital Asset Management) to choose between two existing sites, decide on the optimal location of the facility at the preferred site and select the most appropriate program. Eight-bed houses are organized so that every patient can emerge from his or her bedroom to find an open living and therapeutic space. As patients move past the neighborhood to the downtown, they cross vibrant public squares.
These squares are surrounded by exciting programming spaces. The downtown looks outward toward a space that we have called the "Village Green" and affords patients many opportunities for real-world encounters. While downtown, the patient can visit the library, a gym, a salon, and many other lively spaces. While sitting in the cafe, they can take active views that provide the opportunity to participate within a stimulating community.
