Hudson and Higbee Halls

Hudson Valley Community College

Troy, New York

The renovation of Hudson Hall and Higbee Hall was undertaken to accommodate significant expansion and redirection of several departments at Hudson Valley Community College.

At Hudson Hall, the Civil Engineering and Construction Technologies Departments were relocated into spaces that incorporate the infrastructure needed to teach the latest technologies (including CAD, computerized estimating and materials testing). The Art Department was relocated into a new space with the necessary lighting, ventilation and studio space. As a result, the Department achieved accreditation and nearly doubled enrollment.

At Higbee Hall, the Early Childhood Education Department was able to expand and upgrade both physically and academically. We worked closely with the department chair to incorporate educational and activity spaces that support and demonstrate the very latest concepts in early childhood education. The department also houses the innovative World's Children Center. The Center provides a forum for the exploration of local and global issues as they pertain to children.
