Joseph J. Lomonaco

Mr. Lomonaco is both a Registered Architect and Licensed Professional Engineer with over twenty years of experience in developing architectural and structural designs for institutional, commercial and municipal projects. His combined architectural and engineering background bring a unique balance to project decision making and design, allowing creative design to be fully integrated with sound technical expertise.

His experience and knowledge of the construction industry has resulted in Mr. Lomonaco being responsible for most of the rehabilitation/restoration projects that are produced by architecture+. This same depth of technical knowledge has allowed him to oversee successful large scale new construction.

As the founding partner and President of architecture+, Francis (Frank) Murdock Pitts expresses a strong commitment to the planning and advancement of healthcare, cultural, religious and municipal projects and is nationally-recognized for his architectural design and programming for behavioral, mental health and psychiatric hospitals and other healthcare facilities. In addition to consulting on the development of state and national regulatory standards and guidelines for behavioral health facilities, is the President-Elect of the American College of Healthcare Architects.

In recognition of his valuable work, Frank has also served as President of the American Institute of Architects' Academy of Architecture for Health, Regent of the American College of Healthcare Architects, Chairman of the AIA's National Committees on Mental Health Facilities and Chairman of the AIA's National Therapeutic Environments Task Force.

J. Michael Bergen

Michael joined architecture+ in 1984 after three years in the building trades, including work as a carpentry foreman and site superintendent. This work has led to his commitment to economically sound construction techniques and strict adherence to cost and schedule controls.

While at architecture+, Michael has been responsible for a wide range of projects, from initial development and planning through construction. These projects have ranged in scale and complexity from a small studio addition for a painter, to development of a master plan for a 400-bed state psychiatric center with over 25 buildings. Michael has responsibility for staff placement and scheduling.

Vincent J. Lepera

Vincent J. Lepera

Associate Principal / AIA

A principal of Lepera & Ward from 1980 until its planned dissolution, Vincent joined architecture+ in late 2002. Vincent expresses a strong commitment to the preservation of historic buildings and ecologically sensitive architecture.

Vincent has established a strong record of professional service involving a variety of building types and uses. He has particular expertise in adaptive reuse and historic preservation, having been involved in a number of notable projects including the Rice Building, and the Troy Savings Bank with its acoustically renowned Music Hall. He has been involved in a many revitalization efforts in the City of Troy, and is a founding member of TAP, one of America's oldest urban architectural advocacy and planning organizations.

He has also developed specialized expertise in masonry construction and restoration and high-end custom home design.
