architecture+ was named 2005 Honor Award Recipient by the Capital District Masonry Institute. The award is in recognition for the restoration of Bush Memorial Center at The Sage Colleges in Troy, New York. Exceptional masonry work included replacing plaster from prior restorations with a new waterproof and breathable plaster system as well as an innovative use of cast stone to create steps to mimic the original marble steps, which had been modified in the early 1900s.
Bush Memorial Center is one of the finest examples of Greek Revival Architecture in the Country. It serves as an elegant, formal approach to the northern end of the historic Sage College Campus. It was originally designed by James Dakin in 1836 as the First Presbyterian Church. It now serves as a multi purpose assembly space that is used extensively for campus functions as well as community gatherings.
